Weed status of the Winton Shire as of 1st June 2005.
This page has 4 parts: The Winton Shire contains several of the major water courses which form part of the Lake Eyre Catchment. For this reason the management of invasive weeds is extremely important, especially Parkinsonia and Prickly Acacia. Weed seed spread is caused by vehicle movements throughout the shire and contaminated stock fodder. The shire is currently under a significant threat of weed infestations resulting in significant detrimental impacts on production and environmental assets such as waterholes and rangelands. The following is a list of known weeds in the shire and their classification. For information about these classifications, click here.
