Weed status of the Jericho Shire as of 1st June 2005.

Jericho Shire plays an important weed hygiene role to the Lake Eyre Basin. Through its vigilant roadside parthenium spraying and vehicle washdown facility Jericho Shire prevents the dense parthenium stands of the Central Highlands spreading any further west. 

The following is a list of known weeds in the shire and their classification.  For information about these classifications, click here.

Class 1 pest plants - None

Class 2 pest plants – Parthenium, Prickly acacia, Parkinsonia, Mother-of-millions, Rubber vine, Bellyache Bush

Class 3 pest plants - Athel Pine

Other pest plants - Lion’s Tail, Noogoora Burr, Bathurst Burr
