Weed status of the Flinders Shire as of 1st June 2005.
This page has 4 parts: A number of weed species have been identified within the Flinders Shire. Given the shires location above the Thomson River Catchment it is important that weeds are controlled to minimise the impact of weed infestations in areas below the Flinders Shire. Parthenium has been identified within the Flinders Shire; the infestations have been contained and have been earmarked for eradication. Prickly acacia is common throughout the shire, the isolated infestations are being controlled and buffers are being established around denser parcels in an attempt to arrest its spread. The shire has plans to eradicate the Rubber vine and control Mesquite infestations in the Coopers Creek Catchment within Flinders Shire. The shire also hopes to control a small patch of belly ache bush found in the Lake Eyre Basin. The following is a list of known weeds in the shire and their classification.
