Weed status of the Aramac Shire as of 1st June 2005.
This page has 4 parts: Prickly Acacia and Parkinsonia exist throughout the Aramac Shire. The shire hopes, by 2007, to arrest the spread of Prickly acacia and significantly reduce the distribution of Parkinsonia. Rubber vine is present along a number of tributaries within the shire including Reedy Creek, Thunderbolt Creek, Splitters Creek, Pelican Creek, Towerhill Creek, and the Thompson River. Landholders are generally controlling the spread of the weed in these areas and its distribution is being reduced. There are three recorded incidents of Parthenium weed in the shire. These are isolated sites and the shire believes they can be eradicated. There are also isolated pockets of mesquite and bellyache bush in the shire. The shire hopes to eradicate both species. The following is a list of known weeds in the shire and their classification. For information about these classifications, click here.
