The Landcare Council of the Northern Territory (LCNT) is the regional body for the whole of the Northern Territory, not just the Lake Eyre Basin portion.

Under both the Natural Heritage Trust and the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality Bilateral Agreements between the Commonwealth and states and territories, there is a requirement for a regional body to develop and implement regional plans. The LCNT fulfils the role of regional body under both of these agreements.

It is a community and industry body advising the NT Government on natural resource management issues, and embraces activities which support a vision of sustainable, healthy and productive landscapes across the Northern Territory.

The LCNT is an active advocate for landcare activities undertaken by community and industry groups, individuals and governments in sustainable managing natural resources.  These activities include land, water and biodiversity management and conservation.
