Map of the Lake Eyre Basin Agreement Area
The Northern Territory signed the Agreement on 10th June 2004 and the South Australian Government is considering an expansion of the Agreement area in that state.

The map to the right shows the initial Agreement area in brown, the Northern Territory in green, and the proposed South Australian expansion in blue.

As part of this agreement, a Ministerial Forum was established to develop appropriate policies and strategies, in consultation with the Basin community, for the sustainable management of the cross-border river systems in the Basin.

In addition, a Community Advisory Committee was appointed to provide the Ministers with advice directly from the community and to keep the community informed about the strategies and policies adopted by the Forum.
